Good News
For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?
Matthew 16:26
Forfeiting the most important thing I have is not a good option for me. I would rather pursue the good of life. Still, I realized that when I settled where I would go in the afterlife, this life became more free. So, please consider the good news as be free with me.
For a starting point for why this is even important, click on this video. If you can admit you already know God exists, consider the following…
The gospel proclaims that:
- Jesus is fully God and Man (John 1:1-3, 14)
- Jesus died and resurrected for our sins (1 Corinthians 15:3-4)
- We must believe in Jesus (Romans 5:1)
- Jesus becomes our Lord and Savior (Philippians 3:20)
Will you believe? The benefits include:
- We are new creatures (2 Cor. 5:17)
- We have the Holy Spirit, who radically and progressively transforms our heart and character (2 Cor. 3:12-18; Gal. 5:22-23; Col. 1:6, 9-12)
- Faith, love and hope are possessed by the believer, which is revealed in the actions of the believer (1 Cor. 13:13; 1 Thess. 1:3-4; 5:8)
- God loved the world and gave His son so whomever believes in Him won’t perish but gain the free gift of God that is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord, whom we are now slaves to (John 3:16; Rom. 6:16-22, 23b)
- Two Greatest Commandments: love God above all and love your neighbor (Matt. 22:37-40; Mark 12:30-33; John 13:35)
- Evidences of salvation include the works of faith, the labors of love and the endurance of hope (1 Thess. 1:3-4)
- Read the Bible and obey Jesus’ commands and those of Scripture (2 Tim. 3:16-17; 1 John 2:3-5)
- Constantly reject the sinful things in our lives and practice what is pleasing to God, including prayer, praising Him, and serving the church (Matt. 16:24; Rom. 12:3-8; 1 Cor. 2:12; Eph. 6:10-18; Php. 4:6-9; Col. 3:5-17)
- Confess sins to Him, ask Him for forgiveness and repent so that God may forgive (Acts 8:22; 1 John 1:9)
- Every believer can be assured of Jesus’ presence when making other disciples (Matt. 28:20)
- There is no longer any division between believers because of the union that exists through Christ (Gal. 3:28; Eph. 1:9-10; Col. 3:11)
